As 02-12-08, there is no official way to obtain Arceus. This page was compiled by hacking the game to receive the Azure Flute.

To find Arceus, you will need the item known as the "Azure Flute." This item will most likely be given away at an event, after which it will be delivered to any Pokemart in Sinnoh. Enter the Pokemart and talk to the man in green to receive the Azure Flute.

Now that you have this item, return to Spear Pillar with Giratina in your party. You will be asked to play the Azure Flute; do so and a set of "glowing stairs" will appear. As soon as you step off the stairs and onto the crystal floor, Arceus will call you forth and battle you.

Arceus is at level 80, the highest level for any wild Pokemon, and knows the following moves: Hyper Beam, Refresh, Recover, and Future Sight. If you brought Giratina along, capturing it will be easy.

Start the battle out with Giratina and use Heal Block. Arceus is prevented from using Recover for 5 turns. Arceus' Hyper Beam will miss because Giratina is part Ghost-type. Reduce its health to red (the less the better), and use Heal Block if needed. Do not paralyze it, as it will only cure it with Refresh. Put it to sleep, then throw Ultra Balls (or Dusk Balls if it's dark) until it is captured. If it wakes up, put it to sleep again and use Heal Block.

Arceus is an unique Pokemon. Depending on the item it is holding, it will change types, and therefore have a different effect on its final learnable move. These items, called "plates," are found throughout Sinnoh and the Sinnoh Underground. Below is a list of the plates, what they do, and the effect it has on Arceus.

When there is no plate attached to Arceus, it is the Normal-type. Arceus will have a weakness to Fighting and a complete immunity to Ghost.

When you attach the Flame Plate to Arceus, it becomes the Fire-type. Arceus will gain a doubled weakness to Ground, Water, and Rock while earning a resistance to Bug, Steel, Leaf, Fire, and Ice.

When you attach the Splash Plate to Arceus, it becomes the Water-type. Arceus will gain a doubled weakness to Leaf and Electric while earning a resistance to Steel, Water, Fire, and Ice.

When you attach the Zap Plate to Arceus, it becomes the Electric-type. Arceus will gain a doubled weakness to Ground, while earning a resistance to Flying, Steel, and Electric.

When you attach the Meadow Plate to Arceus, it becomes the Grass-type. Arceus will gain a doubled weakness to Fighting, Steel, Rock, and Fire while earning a resistance to Ice.

When you attach the Icicle Plate to Arceus, it becomes the Ice-type. Arceus will gain a doubled weakness to Ground, Water, and Rock while earning a resistance to Bug, Steel, Leaf, Fire, and Ice.
