Darkrai is one of the four Pokemon in Diamond and Pearl that can only be obtained through an event. As of 2-11-08, there is no event that gives away the Membership Card item, which is needed to obtain Darkrai. You will also need the National Dex as well.

In order to get the Membership Cards, you will have to get it at an event that gives it away. Pick the item up at the Pokemart and head for Canalcave City.

From the Pokemart, go north. Remember the building that had been locked? Now it is opened. Enter, and you will be asked to sleep. You will find yourself on Newmoon Island. Navigate the small stretch of path and you'll come across the entrance to Darkrai's next. Talk to it to engage battle.

It is at level 40 with the ability Bad Dreams, and knows the moves Hynosis, Nightmare, Quick Attack, and Pursuit. The best thing to bring to the fight is a Pokemon with the ability Insomnia, or many Full Restores. Darkrai's ability saps away HP if the doe is asleep. Coupled with Nightmare and it can be devastating.

Put Dakrai to sleep and reduces it HP to the red zone, and hurl Ultra Balls or Dusk balls until it is captured.
