A new item introduced in Diamond and Pearl is the Poketch, short for Poke Watch. It is similar to the Pokegear of GSC fame. Below is the more note worthy applications you can get for your Poketch. Where to find them is coming soon.
---
The first Poketch is the Breeding Application. This nifty little application is received from a man at the Daycare in Solaceon Town. When you put Pokemon in the daycare, it will appear on screen with is current level and gender. If you tap the screen after walking quite a bit (and if two compatible Pokemon were placed in the daycare) an egg will appear between the two Pokemon sprites. Entering a building will also produce the same effect as tapping the screen. If the Pokemon face each other, they have a good chance of producing an egg. If they're looking in the same direction, or looking away from each other, the chances of an egg are not good.

The next Poketch is the Calculator. Just as the name suggests, it calculates math problems for you. This can be useful for those who are keeping track of EVs. Whenever you enter an equation (such as 150 + 1) and solve it, you will hear a Pokemon cry depending on what the answer is (in this case, Mew). This only works if you have seen or captured the Pokemon before hand. It will not work on numbers higher than 493, or lower than 001. Other than this, there is not reason for the calculator. There might be another use, maybe an excuse to use your DS during math class?

The msot useful application in the entire game is the Clock Application that you start out with from the very beginning of the game (well, when you get your Poketch, actually.) This digital clock displays the time along with a Pikachu icon. Like the one in GSC, this is used for keeping track of time. This is most useful when looking for Pokemon that only appear at certain times during the day (or, if you haven't crawled out of bed since 3AM when you went to pee before you started playing). There are several other variants to the clock, one of which includes Snorlax.

The Pedometer is a fairly useful application in regards to breeding. Once you get your egg, reset it to 0 and see how many steps it takes for your egg to hatch into a level 1 baby. If you haven't bothered with this Poketch since you got it, you may find out that you've walked/ran/swam/biked 80,000 steps. Ths counter will reset itself to 0 once you walk/run/swim/bike 100,000 steps, so be careful if your trying to get exactly 99,999 steps.

Don't know what to use against Lucian's Bronzong? Or that troublesome Garchomp owned by the Champion? For the newcomers to the Pokemon universe, this Poketch application is almsot essential. With this application, you enter one or two types into the first part and the application will configure the best move type to use on the selected types in the second part (given that the dual-type combos you selected are actually present in the game).

For those who love to battle and trade via Wifi, this is probably the most useful application. This will tell you if your near a useable wireless connection, and is a lot faster than the one used in the options menu before you start up your game.
