In the newer generation, they remain relatively the same. It would wise to bring along a Pokemon that knows False Swipe, a Pokemon that knows Hypnosis/Sleep Power, and many Ultra Balls. Each bird is at level 50, and knows a move of it's type and a Flying-type move.

For each Pokemon, start by putting it to sleep with the sleep inducing move. Then, switch to the Pokemon that knows False Swipe and attack. Should it wake up, put it to sleep again. You can alternatively use False Swipe from the start then put it to sleep later. Once it has 1HP left and is asleep, hurl Ultraballs until it is caught.

The first legendary bird is Articuno, a Pokemon rumored to appear to doomed explorers in icy mountains. It is located deep within Seafoam Islands.

To get there, fly to Cinnabar Island. Surf east from here and you'll see Seafoam Islands. Enter and proceed through the ladders and what not. If you went the right way, you'll come across a stair leading to the water. Surf here and try to get to the other side. You'll notice you will be pulled away by the strong current and will not be able to get to Articuno, so that means we have to find a way to stop that rapid current.

Rise on land and head for the opposite end of the landmass, there should be a ladder near or a little bit after a signpost. Go down that ladder and head for the stairs that lead to white rocks. Use Strength and push the rocks into the corresponding holes. When you've had two rocks go through, jump on down. The water is no longer affected by the current, so you can now swim northward. You'll discover Articuno on a rock.

Save and engage battle with it.

The next legendary bird is Zapdos, a Pokemon that appears only during violet thunderstorms. It is somewhere within the Abandonded Power Plant.

To get there, fly to the Pokemon center near Rock Tunnel. Go north a bit and you'll see water. Surf, and follow the river and you'll wind up at the entrance. Go inside and follow the straightfoward path, nabbing TM25 along the way. At the very end of the path will be Zapdos.

Moltres is the last legendary bird. His location used to be in Victory Road, but flew the coup when he found out Red/Blue was being remade. He now makes his next on the top of Mount Ember. Moltres is said to be entirely composed of fire.

To get to Moltres, you have to have beaten Blaine and obtained the seventh badge. Afterwardsa, Bill will invite you to the Sevii Islands. North of the Pokemoncenter on Island one is Mount Ember; you'll need Surf and Strength to get to the top.
