On September 30th, 2006 Nintendo gave away Mew to any trainers who entered a Toys R Us gaming store. This event, known as Mystery of Mew ran from 12 PM to 3 PM and was held nationwide at any Toys R Us store that had a gaming department.
Name: Toys R Us's Mystery of Mew
I arrived at the event with my Poke FireRed at roughly 12 PM, and there
was already a line of 30 or so people waiting to get the elusive Mew.
Rumor was that whatever level Pokemon you traded to get Mew, Mew would
be of the same level. I opted to give away a level 49 Metagross if this
was true, and it didn't matter really since I already have two of the
little buggers at levels 46 and 84, not to mention two Level 5 Beldum.
After standing in line with my nephew for almost an hour and 12
minutes, it was my turn to trade. While on the trade menu, I noticed
several Pokemon people had given away... Loudred, Zigzagoon, Cascoon. I
kinda felt bad giving away Metagross. Anyways, the Mew I received was
at Level 10 and had a Jolly nature. "A Rare Pokemon met during a
fateful encounter @ level 10". All the Mew knew Pound and Transform.
Those who attended could receive a pad of Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon
stickers and a 32 page booklet with information on Pokemon anime, card
game, and video games. Characters included Pikachu, Totodile, and
Squirtle on the blue team and Meowth, Torchic, and Cyndaquil on the
red. Scans of these will come.
Mew is an elusive Pokemon not available in-game. Sharking Mew into game
causes it not to obey you. This was a one-time event. Great job on all
of those who obtained Mew! |
