Return to Walkthru | Go on to Part 7

Route 42

Pokemon: Goldeen, Seaking, Spearow, Mareep, Mankey

There are two ways through this route. Continue surfing east, or go through the caves. Best to surf until later in the game. Grab the Ultra Ball, Super Potion, and apricots before going on.

Mahogany Town

Little interest here, as of now. The item shop only sells Potions and Pokeballs, so might as well stock up. You can't head east anymore, and the gym is blocked. So, head north.

Route 43, Lake of Rage, and the Ninja Hideout

Pokemon: Mareep, Flaaffy, Girafarig, Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Magikarp, Gyarados

Hang to the left as much as you can while proceeding north. The house up ahead on the right asks for a $1000 fee, so its best to skip it as much as you can. Be sure to bring around a couple of higher level Pokeballs too.

When you get to the lake, surf into it and then save. Surf out around the middle and talk to the Gyarados to engage battle. It's a Shiny Gyarados, so its worth the try and effort. It doesn't matter if you kill it or catch it. Just try your best at it though. You'll receive the Red Scale either way. Return back to the shore and speak with the man in black/red.

He'll request your help, so say yes and return to town. Enter the item shop and head down the newly opened stairs to enter the Ninja Hideout.

Ninja Hideout

Each time you pass a statue, you'll have to fight two rockets. After the first statue and before the second is a little opening in the wall near some brown boxes. Follow this path and you'll see a man near a computer and a Pokeball. Find him, press the secret switch on the computer, and grab the X Accuracy. Return the second statue. Continue on and you'll see different colored floor. Some of those tiles contain while Geodude, Koffing, or Voltorb, so be careful when crossing.

Step on the diamond tile to return outside if you need to. Otherwise, head down the stairs and meet Lance.

Here, he will heal your Pokemon for you. Continue right, fight thw two rockets (the last one is avoidable) and down the stairs. On the next floor, Lance will explain the hideout to you. When Lance leaves, head up and fight the girl rocket in the little room with the tables. Talk to her after you defeat her to get a password

Leave the little room and head left. Fight the Rocket who says something like "h-yuck h-yuck". Defeat him, get the password from him, and grab the two items behind him. Return to the stairs and go up a bit. You should come to a protien item and further beyond it is a set of stairs, which you will take. On the next floor head left a bit and to the stairs. There is a rocket waiting for you by those stairs.

When you enter the next floor, you'll see some bird Pokemon in the room next to you. Head down, avoiding the stairs, and open the strange looking door to the room. If you have both passwords, the door will open. Before you can do so your rival will appear.

When you enter, thr game will confront you with an executive. He uses Raticate, Koffing, and Zubat is not much of a problem. Talk to Murkrow to receive the next password. Return to the floor where Lance healed your Pokemon.

Team Rocket has left so head for the gym. Open the door that needed a password that has the generator things in it. When you try to enter, your confronted by two executives. You'll only have to defeat one, and she is pretty easy with Arbok, Gloom, and Murkrow. When you defeat her, Lance will want you to defeat 3 Electrodes in the next room. They are at level 23, and it does not matter if you catch them or defeat them. When you do so, he'll reward you with HM06. Return to town.

Mahogany Gym

Use this image to navigate the floor.

Pyrce
Pokemon: Seel Lv. 27, Dewgong Lv. 29, Poliswine Lv. 31 Prize: $3100, Glacierbadge, TM16

Seel and Dewgong are weak against Electric moves and Fighting moves. Poliswine can be taken out with Water, Fighting, or Rock based moves. Flaaffy (or Ampharos) and Gyarados recommended. If you don't have these moves, go with an all offensive with normal type moves(Stomp, Tackle, Gust, etc) or whatever you have.

When you leave the gym, Professor Elm will give you a call about Radio Tower. Fly / walk to Goldenrod City.
