Pokemon: Pidgey, Oddish/Bellsprout, Mankey, Psyduck
In Cerulean, look for the house that was onced blocked by a police
officer. He is gone now and you can enter the house. Go inside and out
the back way. You'll fight a Rocket, not too hard and you'll receive TM28.
Continue around the back and you'll soon find yourself outside the city
walls. Continue on down.
If you head down the hills, you'll encounter a house. Inside, a man
will take care of 1 Pokemon. While you walk around, it gains free EXP.
The lower-right of this route contains the entrance to the underground
path. Find the house and follow the path. You'll land in Route 6.
Follow the path to Vermillion City.
Find the mart and centers. Buy items and heal. Now, head to the southern part of the town and look for the docks. Follow them and you'll soon be asked for the SS Ticket. If you have it, you'll be allowed on the SS Anne. Once aboard, take the following directions as far as you can
go. Head left and take the ladder, then down, right, and then up. If
you did it like so, you'll face Gary who has just obtained HM01. Gary Pokemon: Pidgeotto L. 19, Raticate L. 16, Kadabra L. 18, Charmeleon/Wartortle/Ivysaur L. 20 Prize: $1300
Strangly, his Rattata became a Raticate 4 levels early. Lighting on
Pidgeotto. Normal for Raticate and Kadabra. Weakness for his starter.
After his rant, continue on. In the next room, speak with the captain.
You'll rub his back adn he'll then give you HM01. This is used to chop
bushes down. Teach it to a Pokemon you do not plan to keep.
You can explore the rest of the ship if you want. Leave and it sets sail.
Head back into the city. When you leave the docks, head right until you
see a cave. Enter and head down the ladder. Follow the path and you'll
land right outside Pewter City, except inside the fenced in area. Head
south and you'll see a house. Inside you can trade a Abra for a Mr.
Mime. Chop the bush down and head south. You'll see antoher building.
Enter, and talk with the scientist-like person. If you have more than
10 Pokemon caught, he gives you HM05. Teach it to a Pokemon you do not plan on keeping. Back track to Vermillion.
Look for the gym. Chop the bush down and head inside.
Once in you'll see alot of trash cans. "Talk" to them until you get a
"hey, there is a switch under the trash" message. To the very right of
that is the next switch. if you screw up, you'll have to try again.
When you do finally get it to work, head to the back and talk to Lt.
Surge. He'll soon engage you in a battle.
Lt Surge Pokemon: Voltorb L. 21, Pikachu L. 18, Raichu L. 24 Prize: TM25, Thunderbadge
The easiet way to win is to use ground type Pokemon (Digletts cave),
Pokemon that ground type moves, or go in for an all offensive. One of
the 3 ways should help. Just heal when you can.
3 down and 5 to go!
