Go back to Part 5 | Go to Part 7
Once you've captured as many Pokemon as you wanted in the Safari Zone,
take out the Pokemon that knows fly and fly to Celadon. Once there, go
to the top of the Poke-Mart and buy one of the drinks if you haven't
already. With the drink, head east from Celadon and enter the
station/guard house. You'll be stopped by the guard on duty, but if you
have one of the drinks he will let you go through.
Several things to do in Saffron. One of them is to find Mr. Psychic's
house and get a valueable TM from him. I recommend only teaching this
move to a Pokemon that does not learn it by leveling and has a good
Special (such as Haunter/Gengar or Exeggutor). Or save it until you get
far enough into the game to do the item dupe trick. Next place to visit is the fighting dojo located next to the Gym in the northeast part of town. This used to be the offical gym until the one next door showed up and knocked them down. The five trains here use Pokemon from levels 30 - 37. Flying and psychic will do well. The master is located in the back. Once you beat him, he'll let you choose between two Pokemon you just fought. Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee. You can only take one. So choose wisely.
Now the only thing left to do now is to head on over to Shilp Co. It's
the large building in the center of town. Make sure you have good items
and you're fully healed.
Once inside head all the way up and find the elevator located on the this floor. Go inside and select "F5". Now that your on F5, head left as far as you can and then down. You'll see a scientist and then a rocket when you go both directions. The rocket blocks the path so step on the transporter. Once in the next room, step off then back on the transporter. You can now access that path the rocket was blocking. Head all the way down and grab the key card. Backtrack to get on the other side of the rocket.
Find the elevator again and head for "F3". Leave the elevator. Head
left then down. Fight the rocket and use your key card to open the door
to the left. Step on the panel in that room. In the next room you'll
have to fight your rival. Gasp!
Gary Pokemon: Pidgeot L. 37, Exeggcute/Gyarados/Growlithe L. 38/35, Alakazam L. 35, Charizard/Venusaur/Blastoise L. 40 Prize: ???? Gary is a little bit stronger since Lavender. Alakazam should has physical or just anything but Psychic moves used on him. Just use the same strat. on his other Pokemon.
After your rival leaves, talk to the man. He'll give you Lapras for
what your trying to do. Now, step on the panel. In the next area, head
south and face the rocket. Defeat him, and open the door to proceed.
Now you have to fight Giovanni again.
Giovanni Pokemon: Nidorino L. 37, Kangaskhan L. 35, Rhyhorn L. 37, Nidoqueen L. 41 Prize: $4000
Psychic or Ground type moves will take care of Nidorino, and fighting
moves on Kangaskhan. Rhyhorn can we taken out easily with just about
any leaf move. Nidoqueen should be combated with water or psychic
moves. Pretty easy battle.
When Giovanni leaves, speak with the President in the back. He'll give
you a gift for saving his company. DO NOT USE THIS ITEM. When this is
over, use an Escape rope to return to the Saffron Poke-Center. Now its
time to take on the Gym
This gym is a big puzzle filled with trainers who use Psychics and ghost Pokemon. Step on the panel to get started.
Easiest way to do this is to go to the panel directly left or right
across from the one you came in on. This will take you to Sabrina
without having to remember complex ways to get there and back. If you
did it right (how hard is it not to?), you'll land at Sabrina. If you
had difficulty with the trainers here, your in for a world of hurt.
Best to run out and heal first.
Sabrina Pokemon: Kadabra L. 38, Mr. Mime L. 37, Venomoth L. 38, Alakazam L.41 Prize: Marshbadge, TM46, $4227 This battle can be difficult. Fire moves will work best on Venomoth, and Kadabra can be taken down with moves like Body Slam and Strength. Mr. Mime can also be taken down this way but it will take just a bit more. With Alakazam, throw everything at it.
Do the same strat. above to get out. Once out, it is best to save and
go heal at the center and stock up on some items. Now its time to go
back to where the adventure began!
