Return to RB Walkthru | Go back to Part 7

Viridian City

Fly to Viridian City. Head north and then right to the gym. Enter and get ready for more puzzles.

Viridian City

This gym uses ground Pokemon so leaf and water types are recommended. Head up and you'll see 3 trainers. Head up farther to see another trainer. Head left from him and you'll see another one. Get his attention and he'll come towards you and engage you in battle.

Back track to the enterance. Head right and up and touch the panel. You'll land behind the blackbelt. Continue on left and you find an old friend who is the gym leader. This the final gym battle, so you think it'll be hard. Wrong.

---------------------

Giovanni
Pokemon: Rhyhorn L. 45, Dugtrio L. 42, Nidoqueen L. 44, Nidoking L. 45, Rhydon L. 50
Prize: Earthbadge, $4800, TM27

Rhyhorn, Dugtrio, and Rhydon can be taken down with Water, Ice, and Leaf moves, Razor leaf, Ice Beam, or Bubblebeam are good moves to use. The King and Queen however should have water or psychic moves use against them as the Poison type cancels out the super effectness of the leaf type moves

---------------------

Talk to Giovanni again and he'll give you TM27. Talk to him yet again and he makes a proclomation and then leaves. Now it is finally time to take on the Pokemon leauge.

I suggest training your Pokes until they are at least 50 or higher, as you will need the strength. Going after the Legendary Birds isn't a bad idea either.

Route 22

Head west to the Route where you fought your rival for the second time. Guess who's here? Yeah, your rival. Another battlwe before the League. He's not to hard if your at a high level.

---------------------

Gary
Pokemon: Pidgeot L. 47, Rhyhorn L. 45, Exeggcute/Gyarados/Growlithe L. 45/47, Alakazam L. 50, Charizard/Venusaur/Blastoise L. 53 Prize: $3445

Pidgeot can be taken down with Ice or lightning moves, same with Gyarados or Blastoise/Venusaur respectively. Charizard/Growlithe and Rhyhorn can be taken down with water. Alakazam is the only problem as its Psychic can cream you whole party. Best to use your best moves.

---------------------

Now, return to town and heal at the center. Return to where you fought your rival and continue west and enter the building.

Route 23

Pokemon: Kingler, Seadra, Mankey, Spearow, Fearow, Ditto

All you need to do is head up. You'll be stopped 8 times and be asked to show a certain badge. If you have all 8, this area is a breeze. At the end is victory road and is very challenging.

Victory Road

(Note: There are many items to grab in VR. I don't say to grab them all in this guide. If you see it, grab it!)

Pokemon: Machop, Machoke, Onix, Geodude, Gravler, Zubat, Golbat, Venomoth

use strength on the boulder. Push it down, right, up, right and then push it onto the switch. Return to where the boulder was and up the path. You'll come to a fork. The right leads you to two items. You can only get one now unless you leave and then re-enter and redone to the puzzle. The left take you farther in.

Follow the path and take the stairs. Go down a little and use strength on the boulder. Push it left once, and then down. Push it left onto the switch. Head up and follow the path. You'll come to two sets of stairs that takes you off this path. Head right to the wall and then up.

Head left again and nab the item and then take the stiars to the next floor. Use strength on the boulder and push it up twice. Then just push it all the way left. Push it against the wall and then down 1 so it blocks the path. Push it down the path. Push it in front of the ladder and then down and right so it hits the switch. Don't take those stairs or you'll have to do this again. (Stairs leads to Moltres).

Return to where the boulder was. Take the path up where the trainer is and follow it. You'll come to two trainers facing opposite ways. Head right all the way and you should come to a boulder in front of a hole. Push the boulder down and follow it.

Your on the left side of the boulder, now get on the right. Use strength and push it all the way right and onto the switch. Return to where your dropped down and take the stairs take are now accessable. In this new room, head up and take the stairs. In the new area, head left and you'll be taken out.

Outside, follow the tiles to a statue maze. Real easy to navigate through. At the end is the Pokemon HQ. Enter. You can trade, heal, switch Pokemon, and buy items here. Do all of the nessicary and head up and enter the next room. The time has come.

The Elite 4

Before entering the backroom, buy plently of revives and full restores.

First up is Loreile, the ice queen.

------------------

Loreile
Pokemon: Dewgong L. 54, Cloyster L. 53, Slowbro L. 53, Jynx L. 56, Lapras L. 56
Prize: $5400

Dewgong is the annoying Pokemon on her team. Right before you are able to kill it, it uses Rest and heals its self.

Best moves are Lightning based moves on everyone but Jynx, who can have fire moves used on her.

------------------

Use revives then Full Restores and head into the next room. Next is Bruno

------------------

Bruno
Pokemon: Onix L. 53, Hitmonchan L. 55, Hitmonlee L. 55, Onix. L. 56, Machamp L. 58
Prize: $5200

Both Onixs will fall easily with water or leaf moves

Chan and lee will fall easily with any physical or Psychic moves. Same with Machamp.

------------------

Use revives then Full Restores and head into the next room. Next is Agatha. This where all hell breaks loose.

------------------

Agatha
Pokemon: Gengar L. 56, Golbat L. 56, Haunter L. 55, Arbok L. 58, Gengar L. 60
Prize: $5800

Both Gengar and Haunter are weak against Psychic, so use it if you have it. If not, try ground moves.

Arbok and Golbat are weak against the same things. Watch out as you can be confused and poisoned by all Pokemon in this battle and that is what makes it harder.

------------------

Use revives then Full Restores and head into the next room. Next is Lance, the leader.

------------------

Lance
Pokemon: Gyarados L. 58, Dragonair L. 56, Dragonair L. 56, Aerodactyl L. 60, Dragonite L. 62
Prize: $6100

All his Pokemon can be taken out with Ice, lightning, leaf, or rock type moves. However, staying alive to be able to use these moves is the problem as all of them know Hyper Beam. This move is deadly in the older gens and can whip out most Pokemon.

------------------

Use revives then Full Restores and head into the next room. Next is the Champion who already triumped over the Elite.

------------------

Rival
Pokemon: Pidgeot L. 61, Alakazam L. 59, Rhydon L. 61, Exeggutor/Arcanine/Gyarados L. 61/63, Charizard/Blastoise/Venusaur L. 65

Same strat. as before. Alakzam is really weak against Hyper Beam. If you have it, he will be no problem. Ice/Lightning on Pidgeot. Leaf, water, and fire on Rhydon, his starter, and his other fire/water/leaf Pokemon respectively. You'll need to heal and revive alot and this can be quite a hard battle even if you were fully healed.

------------------

The champion falls! The professor will enter and will escort to to the Great Hall where champions and their Pokemon are entered into records. Now all that is left is the credits.

Now, the only thing left to do is to complete the Pokedex. Get with a friend and trade, train and catch others, and then evolve Pokemon to complete it. Show it to a man in the Celadon Mansion to get a neat gift.

But if your tired of doing that, head over to the Game Corner and play the slots or link up and battle your friends. Or, restart the game and try to beat your old record!
