In Red/Blue, players can trade Pokemon with several in-game trainers. These Pokemon are usually rare and one of a kind, or are very good for that stage in the same. Below is a list of in-game trades; their locations, and Pokemon needed and received included.

Did you know? Many people believe that because the old man on Cinnabar Island says "Your Raichu went and evolved", it implies that there was a planned evolution for Raichu. This is not the case. It is an oversight in translation. The American text for Red/Blue was taken from the Japanese version of Blue. In the Japanese Blue, instead of trading Raichu for Electrode, one would trade Kadabra for Graveler; Kadabra evolves when traded, and the old man says "Your Kadabra went and evolved!"
