As the name suggests, many think of the idea of a "Mirage Island" to be a mirage or fake location in the game. However, despite its name, it is a real location in Hoenn that can be accessed any time during the course of the game, given you meet the requirements.

In Pacifilog Town is a man who will tell you whether or not Mirage Island appears in Route 130 on that day you visit him. Each day, all of your Pokemon are assigned a different number and each Pokemon has a different number. So each day, take all your Pokemon to the old man and see if he can spot Mirage Island. If not, return each day with all your Pokemon until he sees it. When he does, grab a Pokemon who knows surf and keep surfing east until you hit it; its fairly large and impossible to miss.

Mirage Island contains two things. One of them is a first for the Pokemon games, wild baby staged Pokemon. Wynaut can be found in the grassy areas ranging from level 5 to level 45 of both genders. Also on the island is one Liechi Berry, the 36th berry. Don't replant it here, as you'll lose it tomorrow.
