Fighting-type Moves Fighting-type Pokemon
Super-effective Dark, Ice, Normal, Steel, Rock Weaknesses Psychic, Flying
Not effective against DBug, Flying, Poison, Psychic Resistances Bug, Dark, Fightingt
Have no effect on Ghost Availability Uncommon

The Fighting-type is really one of the most useless types in the Pokemon games. The only time Fighting-type Pokemon will be of any use, really, is during the battle against Whitney in GSC because of the super effectiveness of Fighting to Normal. You might be saying to yourself 'Well, they're great against Lorelei, Sydney, and Glacia." Now while this is true, many of their Pokemon have another weakness that is superior to the Fighting-type.

They're worth keeping if they're dual typed like Heracross or Lucario that helps offset their weakness to Psychic-moves. The farther you get into the games, the more Pokemon you'll encounter that know Psychic; not really worth keeping if they're single typed.

Offensively, Fighting-Pokemon are amazing. The attack stat is usually the highest stat, and with the high power of many fighting moves, allows for some serious damage to be dealt. They aren't much of special fighters, so don't bother teaching Flamethrower to Machamp. The defense stat is moderately good; they can withstand a few hits especially against a Flying-type move. However, they are sitting ducks when it involves the special defense stat because it isn't that great (and since many Pokemon can learn Psychic that doesn't help either) .

Fighting-type moves are great. They're all around powerful moves that have few side effects to using them.
