Grass-type Pokemon are rather popular choices. There are very few wellrounded Psychic types.

The sole objective of many Psychic Pokemon is to be an attack and nothing else. With the exception of a few, most Psychics will do very well in the special attack category. Many damage dealing moves Psychic Pokemon learn are quite powerful without the dealing repercussions.

Defensively, Psychic Pokemon suck. Many will be taken out with one hit from a powerful physical move. if it is a special move, there is a good chance they might survive the hit. Very few Pokemon have noteworthy defenses such as Slowbro and Hypno. Since many have poor defenses (think Alakazam) they are rather fast and have access to Recover.
